North Iowa Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Charges

A north Iowa traffic stop has led to the arrest of a 19-year-old on drug charges.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says, shortly after 9:30 p.m. Saturday night, they initiated a traffic stop on a Mercury Mountaineer for multiple traffic infractions on Highway 150 near 118th Street, about three miles south of Fayette. After further investigation, the driver was identified as Gray Cartmell of Nevada, Iowa. 

Cartmell was arrested and transported to the Fayette County Jail for possession of marijuana, first offense, and possession of cannabidiol, both serious misdemeanors; plus possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol under the legal age – second offense, both simple misdemeanors. Cartmell was also cited for the traffic offenses.
