Arrests in Fayette County Include One on Assault Charge

A Fayette County man was arrested on an assault charge Sunday evening.
The Oelwein Police Department says they received a citizen’s report of a disturbance on 3rd Avenue Northeast shortly after 5:30 p.m. An investigation led to the arrest of 47-year-old Robert Latham of Oelwein on a charge of domestic abuse assault, second offense, a serious misdemeanor.
A north Iowa man was arrested early Monday morning for being uncooperative with law enforcement.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says, shortly after 1 a.m., they received a report of a male subject in Elgin who was possibly in violation of a protective order. A deputy responded to the area and arrested 41-year-old Craig Cooley of Elgin.
Cooley was charged with violation of a protective order as well as interference with official acts. He was being held at the Fayette County Jail in West Union.
