Mason City Man Arrested for Drugs, Stolen Weapons

A Mason City man and woman are facing drug and weapons charges following their arrest Friday night.
The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office says the incident began with a traffic stop near the intersection of 2nd Street Northwest and North Adams Avenue in Mason City shortly after 6:30 p.m. A deputy requested assistance from Mason City Police and their K9, Kilo, who gave a positive alert for the odor of narcotics, leading to a search of the vehicle.
The search discovered methamphetamine and a firearm that had been reported stolen. The driver, 30-year-old Jacob Shafer, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, trafficking stolen weapons, no drug tax stamp and possession of drug paraphernalia. A passenger, 28-year-old Desarae Schwab, was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both were transported to the Cerro Gordo County Jail.
