A 1981 Charles City graduate has tossed his hat in the ring to become the city’s mayor.
Rich Severin says he will challenge incumbent Mayor Dean Andrews, who recently announced he will seek a second 4-year term in office. Severin says he will work to encourage community leadership and broaden the city’s tax base.
Severin adds that the City’s housing programs need a thorough review to develop more housing while also increasing property values of existing homes.
Severin sold his business about a year-and-a-half ago to move back to Charles City and help his mom. He says he also wants to enjoy his retirement and become the PR voice for the City as mayor.
