COVID Boost Shots For Healthy Vaccinated People Could be Available in a Week

Immuno-compromised individuals previously vaccinated for COVID with the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine are now eligible to receive a boost dose.

Chickasaw County Public Health Administrator Lisa Welter says boost doses for those previously vaccinated, but who are healthy and not immuno-compromised, could be available starting in a week.

Public health officials continue to encourage people not yet vaccinated to do so, with the Delta variant more easily transmissible than previous strains of COVID. Whether you’re vaccinated or not, but think you might have COVID, Welter says Test Iowa home-testing COVID kits are still available.

Welter says Chickasaw County had 18 new active COVID cases for the seven-day period ending last Friday morning. The count included five cases for children ages 17 or younger.
