Dight Will Not Seek Re-Election to Charles City School Board

There will be at least two new members on the Charles City School Board when elections are held in November.

Scott Dight announced at Monday night’s school board meeting that we will not seek re-election and will end 20 years of serving the district. Dight was on the board from 1993 to 2005 and has been a board member since being re-elected as a write-in candidate in 2013.

Dight says the district has made great strides in the last eight years.

Dight says other accomplishments include building a new transportation center and recent improvements in student state test scores.

Last month, fellow school board member Missy Freund announced she would not seek re-election while Board President Josh Mack has filed papers to seek another term.

New candidates running for school board include Dr.David Schrodt, Staci Taylor and Kathryn Fox. The deadline for filing to run for school board as well as city elections is this Thursday.
