Vote on North Butler Bond Referendum Today (09.14)

Residents in the North Butler School District go to the polls today to vote on two bond issues totalling about $19.3 million.

If both are approved, about two-thirds of the funds would cover improvements to classrooms and facilities in Allison and Greene. The other third would go toward a new competition facility for North Butler athletic teams and students in Greene.

School officials add that passage of the measures will allow the district to address needs related to safety and security; expand classroom space for advanced career tech educational programming; and add new mechanical and electrical systems in the elementary buildings to improve air exchange and create healthier learning environments.

The bond referendums must receive at least 60% majority yes votes to be approved.

All polling locations will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. All school district voters who reside in Floyd County will cast their ballots at the Marble Rock Library.

The tax impact would amount to an additional $17.40/month ($0.58/day) on a home with a $100,000 assessed value. For agricultural land, the tax impact would be about $4.80 per acre in Butler County and $4.73 per acre in Floyd County.
