U.S. Highway 218 in Floyd will be closed to through traffic due to road construction starting Monday.
Iowa DOT District Two Field Service Coordinator Pete Hjelmstad says the work will improve the road from Montgomery Street to the Cedar River railroad.
Hjelmstad adds there will also be sidewalk work associated with the project that is somewhat of a precursor to the construction of the new Highway 18/218 interchange at Floyd.
Hjelmstad says the Highway 218 resurfacing work in Floyd will take about three weeks to complete at a cost of almost $750,000.
During the closing, traffic will be detoured using U.S. Highway 18, Floyd County Road T-38, also known as Lancer Road, and Iowa Highway 9.
