Motorcyclist Killed in Crash with Tree Saturday in Northeast Iowa

One person died in a one-vehicle wreck in northeast Iowa Saturday afternoon.

The Iowa State Patrol and Clayton County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a crash involving a motorcycle near the corner of Great River Road and Pleasant Avenue at around 12:30 p.m. Deputies believe a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by 62-year-old Barry Woodson of Marion, was heading north when Woodson lost control on a right-hand curve. The bike entered a ditch and a tree branch hit Woodson in the head and neck area. Woodson died as a result of the collision with the tree branch.

The Guttenberg Police Department, Holy Cross EMS, and Tegler’s Towing assisted in the emergency response just west of the Pleasant Ridge Wildlife Area..
