A semi-truck did a “full number” on a Charles City street light Wednesday evening.
The Charles City Police Department says the vehicle-versus-object collision occurred shortly after 5 p.m. A tractor trailer operated by 73-year-old Carol Ervin of Garden City, Minnesota, was southbound on Main Street and attempted to make a right hand turn onto the westbound lane of Gilbert Street, when it struck the light pole at the corner of the intersection. The light pole was knocked down and was still inoperable as of Sunday
There were no injuries, the semi sustained two flat tires and damages to the light pole are estimated at $3,000. A traffic signal light next to the light pole was not damaged.
