Watch for Farm Implements as Harvest Season Draws Near

During Farm Safety Week (Sept. 19-25) officials are reminding those in the agricultural industry to practice safety on a daily basis, those safety concerns can extend off the farm as well.

Chickasaw County Sheriff Marty Hemann advises motorists to be alert for increased traffic by tractors, combines and other implements as harvest season draws closer.

Hemann encourages patience as more farm machinery hits the road in the coming weeks.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics indicates that the agricultural sector is still the most dangerous profession in America with 573 fatalities, or an equivalent of 23.1 deaths per 100,000 workers, in 2019.
