Homecoming Week for Charles City Schools

It’s Homecoming Week 2021 for the Charles City School District.

The Student Council helped organize events, which senior Hannah Jones says includes competition in Spirit Week among the high school students.

Senior Michelle Jones hopes this will be the year the senior class wins Spirit Week, but it won’t be easy.

There is no school for Charles City today (09.27), so homecoming dress up days start with Tuesday’s “Color Day”  with freshmen wearing orange, sophomores baby blue, juniors red, seniors indigo and staff wearing white. Wednesday is “Dress Like Your Favorite Teacher” followed by “Generation Day” on Thursday, and orange and black on Friday.

Friday’s activities also include the student tailgate at the high school, the pep rally at Comet Gym at 1:30 p.m., the coronation of the king and queen at 2:55 p.m. and the parade down Main Street starting at 4:15 p.m.

The Comets host Center Point-Urbana for the football game Friday night at 7:30 p.m. with the homecoming dance starting at 9 p.m. with the theme, “Night of the Comet.”

Homecoming activities are also planned throughout the week in the Charles City elementary schools.
