With the calendar switching to October, outdoor enthusiasts will keep their heads up and eyes focused on the changing leaf colors.
Iowa DNR District Forester Greg Heidebrink says the changes in the Floyd County area have been steady.
Heidebrink says leaves in northeast Iowa normally reach their peak colors around October 10.
And while temperatures have been cooler overnight in recent weeks, Heidebrink says don’t be too anxious to do much tree pruning yet.
Heidebrink adds that the public is welcome to call his office with any tree questions.
