Mason City Man Arrested with Two Pounds of Meth

A Mason City man has been arrested for possessing almost two pounds of methamphetamine.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office says a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 400 block of South Taylor Avenue in Mason City shortly after 11 a.m. Friday. During the search, the large amount of meth and items to distribute meth were discovered, leading to the arrest of 54-year-old James Mariner.

Mariner has been charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a Class B felony; and failure to affix a drug tax stamp, a Class D felony. Mariner was being held in Cerro Gordo County Jail.

Authorities say this is an ongoing methamphetamine distribution and money laundering case. Anyone with information should contact the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department.

The Clear Lake and Mason City police departments, Mason City Fire Department, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, United States Postal Service, and the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force also assisted in the investigation.
