Chickasaw County Jail Passes State Inspection

The Chickasaw County Jail in New Hampton passed its most recent state inspection, but improvements to the facility are still needed.

County Jail Administrator Jordan Gansen told the Board of Supervisors this week the inspection confirmed what the county already knows, it’s an older, aging facility.

Chickasaw County Sheriff Marty Hemann offered several options  for the jail’s future to the supervisors, from building new to shared agreements with neighboring counties. He says it’s probably time to form a game plan.

The current jail was originally built in 1958.
