Charles City Chamber Hopes for “Wonderfall” Weather Saturday Night

It’s a “Wonderfall” week to take advantage of activities sponsored by Main Street Charles City.

Businesses have until 5 p.m. Friday (10.08) to sign up for the “Wonderfall” decorating contest, which Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Mark Wicks says is a fun way to remind store owners of the importance of curb appeal.

Participating businesses are invited to display a fall or Halloween-themed decorative look for the contest which will run through October 29. In addition to the People’s Choice Award, a Judges’ Choice Award has also been added.

Saturday night, the chamber hopes for “wonderfall” weather with its fifth attempt at a Pop-Up Drive-In Movie Night in the Charles City High School parking lot.

This go round is a double feature with “ET: The Extra Terrestrial” starting at 6:45 p.m. followed by “The Goonies” at about 9 p.m. Admission is a free will donation with concessions available on site.

Four attempts at the movie night over the summer were all cancelled due to weather. The forecast for Saturday night is calling for increasing clouds with a slight chance of rain after midnight.
