After being “parked” near the corner of 11th Avenue and Grand Avenue in Charles City over the weekend, the historic Milwaukee Railroad depot is expected to be placed on its new foundation today.
The American Passenger Train History Museum has been coordinating the move of the 1912 building to its new home.
The museum’s Bob Moen says the move of the 1912 building has gone smoothly with Thein Structural Moving of Clara City, Minnesota.
Moen says after the depot is cemented in place on it’s new foundation, phase two of the project will commence with fundraising for renovating the building.
UPDATE: Moen says the move of the depot onto its new foundation will not occur until 1 p.m. this afternoon—-weather permitting. Moen adds that if it’s raining, the move will be delayed until 8 a.m. tomorrow morning.
