Nashua-Plainfield Student Honored by Sen. Grassley, Army

A Nashua-Plainfield student received special recognition from Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley (R) and the U.S. Army during a ceremony Tuesday in Nashua.

Caleb Sinnwell was presented with an Army Certificate of Achievement for his website about the Ghost Army units of World War II, which earned Sinnwell first place in the National History Day Project.

Sinnwell shed light on the Ghost Army, which was kept secret for over 50 years, and has advocated for national legislation to award the unit a Congressional Gold Medal.

Grassley, who has co-sponsored the bill, said Sinnwell’s efforts are a great example of how people can make a difference in Washington.

Sinnwell says 56 U.S. Senators have sponsored the legislation thus far, but 11 more are still needed before the Congressional Gold Medal can be awarded to the 10 surviving Ghost Army veterans.
