“Lost Towns of Iowa” is the focus of a series of books that reveals little known facts about communities across the state.
Author Linda McCann’s latest book on Chickasaw County is now out and tells how the city of New Hampton’s name came as a result of a glut of post offices.
McCann says her “Lost” book on Floyd County is finished, but has not been printed yet. She says it will include details of a POW camp in Charles City.
McCann says she “fell into” writing her series of “Lost” books about ten years ago and has taken her down unexpected twists and turns in Iowa history.
The Charles City Public Library hosted McCann for a discussion of her books Wednesday night. McCann also made an appearance at the Rudd Public Library Wednesday afternoon.
