One Person Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision North Of New Hampton

One person was injured in a two-vehicle wreck about 15 miles north of New Hampton earlier this week.

The Howard County Sheriff’s Office says they took a report of a collision southwest of Lourdes shortly after 11:30 a.m. Monday. A Ford F-150 driven by 20-year-old Christopher Dunn of Elma was northbound on Key Avenue when he failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with 200th Street and struck the eastbound Dodge Caravan driven by 44-year-old Sandra Combs of Waterloo.

Combs’ vehicle came to rest in the ditch while Dunn’s vehicle remained on the roadway.  Both vehicles were considered total losses.

Dunn was uninjured and Combs was taken to MercyOne Medical Center in New Hampton for non-life-threatening injuries.  Dunn was cited for failure to obey a stop sign.

Elma Fire and Rescue, Riceville Ambulance Service, Howard County first responders, and Northeast Iowa Motors also assisted at the scene was
