Public tours of the new Floyd County Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in Charles City continue through Friday.
Construction of the new LEC has taken almost two years and Sheriff Jeff Crooks says the tours offer a great way to finally show it off.
Crooks says they are getting closer to moving inmates into the new jail, but exactly when is a “moving target.”
During the first public tour Wednesday morning, KCHA/KCZE learned the county dispatch center is now scheduled to begin moving from its current location in the courthouse to its new state-of-the-art center in the new LEC on October 20th and be operational by October 25th.
Crooks says, hopefully, moving inmates in won’t be long after that.
