An emergency call in Charles City earlier this week has led to a death investigation.
In a press release, Charles City Police Chief Hugh Anderson says officers responded to a residence at 301 Shaw Avenue at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the people present and one person was transported by ambulance to the hospital and was later pronounced deceased.
Officers conducted a search of the residence and also located a body inside the house. The case remains under investigation and names are being withheld as the correct people are notified.
Chief Anderson says there is not a direct threat to the general public regarding the incident.
According to the department’s police activity report for Tuesday, Oct. 12, officers went to the residence for a welfare check.
