Employee Safety is Top Goal with New Floyd County Law Enforcement Center

Over 300 people were allowed to tour the new Floyd County Law Enforcement Center (LEC) in Charles City last week through a series of public tours.

The LEC is not fully operational yet, but Sheriff Jeff Crooks says it will provide a secured environment for the county’s law enforcement staff once complete.

This week, the county’s dispatch center is scheduled to begin moving from its current location in the courthouse to its new center in the new LEC this Wednesday (October 20) and be functioning by October 25th.

Crooks says, hopefully, moving inmates in won’t be long after that, but putting an actual date to the relocation is a “moving target” itself pending final state inspections of the facility.
