The first of two leaf pickup weeks for Charles City residents begins Monday.
The City Street Department asks that leaves be raked into the street 12-24 inches from the curb to prevent storm sewers from becoming clogged. Crews will make only one round through town for leaf pickup each week of October 25th and November 15th.
Fire Chief Eric Whipple also reminds residents that burning leaves in Charles City has been prohibited for several years.
If you miss getting your leaves out in time for pickup, the Shaw Avenue Dumpsite is still open daily from sunrise to sunset for drop off. Contact the City with questions or for more information.
