Charles City Rail Terminal Project Awarded over $1 Million

It’ll be a real “gas” when a new rail/truck terminal is up and running in Charles City.

The Iowa Transportation Commission recently approved a $900,000 loan and a $240,000 grant to Charles City Rail Terminal (CCT) to develop a transloading station for LP gas and other biorenewables products and specialized fuels.  CCT’s Dennis Rippentrop says the availability of two railroad lines in the “brownfield” area of the former White-Oliver tractor plant makes it a perfect location for the facility.

Rippentrop says it’s also a perfect opportunity to fill a real need for distribution of LP gas that opened up in 2019.

Rippentrop says the CCT has been in the works since and the $1.2 million in state funding helps get the project moving.

Rippentrop adds that operation will mean the creation of 20 or more jobs over the next three years.
