A Charles City man is one of three north Iowans to win large cash prizes with Iowa Lottery scratch games in October.

Kerry Ensign won $30,000 in the Iowa Lottery’s “Win Big” scratch game after purchasing his winning ticket at Stop-N-Shop in Marble Rock. “Win Big” is a $30 scratch game that features eight top prizes of $300,000 and 42 prizes of $30,000.  Ensign was the 33rd $30,000 winner.

Julie Ackley of Osage won a $100,000 top prize in the Iowa Lottery’s “$100,000 Mega Crossword” after buying her winning ticket at Kwik Star in Osage, the same store where she bought a $10,000 winning ticket five months earlier, playing the same game. Ackley says she’ll use part of her winnings to pay off her mortgage. The $100,000 Mega Crossword is a $10 scratch game with 38 top prizes of $100,000.

Alan Haubrich of Mason City, a retired police officer, won nearly $49,000 in the JACKPOT PARTY  progressive game after buying his winning ticket at a Yesway in Mason City. Haubrich said he plans to use part of his winnings to purchase a headstone for his wife, Sandy, who passed away in September. The JACKPOT PARTY Progressive jackpot starts at $10,000 and increases with each ticket sold statewide until it is won.
