Last Chance for Public Tour of New Floyd County Law Enforcement Center This Saturday

Members of the public interested in taking an inside tour of the new Floyd County Law Enforcement Center in Charles City have one more chance to lawfully do so.

Floyd County Board of Supervisors Chair Linda Tjaden says citizens are invited to walk through the new LEC from 10 a.m. to noon this Saturday, October 30th.

At Tuesday’s regular Board of Supervisors’ meeting, Tjaden said this would be the last public tour so officials can complete the training of staff in advance of moving the inmates from the fourth floor of the courthouse into the new LEC. A date for inmate migration has yet to be established.

Supervisors did establish that the address of the new LEC will continue to be 101 South Main Street, but with the addition of Suite 229. The lack of an address had prevented the State Fire Marshall from signing off on their inspection of the facility last week.

Parking for Saturday’s open house is available in the lot north of the county courthouse and within the parking area next to the LEC.  Entrance will be through one of the LEC garages.
