Two Men Arrested in Fayette County on Gun Charges

Two men have been arrested on gun-related charges in connection with a party near Oelwein earlier this month.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says they received 911 calls of shots fired at about 2:30 a.m. on October 16 in the 17000 block of 45th Street, just northwest of Oelwein. Investigating deputies located a party with multiple people and an altercation amongst party goers had led to shots being fired. Multiple spent rounds were located, some party goers fled the scene, and no injuries were reported.

Further investigation resulted in the arrests on Saturday (October 29) of two 25-year-old suspects from Oelwein. Dayton Perkins of was arrested on a valid Fayette County warrant for intimidation with a dangerous weapon, a Class D felony. Brandon Latham was also arrested on a valid Fayette County warrant for assault while displaying a dangerous weapon,  an aggravated misdemeanor.
