Pfizer Vaccines for Ages 5-11 Coming to Floyd County

Pediatric Pfizer COVID vaccines for children ages 5 to 11 are coming to Floyd County.

About 300 doses each are to be received this week at Main Street Drug and Hy-Vee pharmacies in Charles City. Floyd County Public Health Administrator Gail Arjes says for those younger kids getting vaccinated, possible after effects would be similar to getting a flu shot.

Both Charles City pharmacies were still waiting this morning for their shipment of pediatric Pfizer COVID vaccines and the Charles City School District has scheduled a pediatric immunization clinic from 3:45 to 5:30 p.m. Friday at Lincoln Elementary.

Arjes reminds those wanting a COVID booster shot that sticking with the same vaccine for your booster as your original vaccination is not a must, but might be best.

Both Arjes and Chickasaw County Public Health Administrator Lisa Welter say their offices have Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines available for booster and first-time vaccinations.
