The Charles City School District is teaming up with Main Street Drug Friday for a free pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic for kids under 12.
Last week, the CDC approved Pfizer’s vaccine for children ages 5 to 11, which Floyd County Public Health Administrator Gail Arjes says will be administered similar to the COVID vaccine for adults.
However, Arjes adds the vaccine for the kids is about a third of the adult dose and kids are likely to experience fewer after effects.
Main Street Drug will give the free kids Pfizer vaccines from 3:45 to 5:30 p.m. at Lincoln Elementary School in Charles City. Getting the vaccine is entirely voluntary, but children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. A link to more information can be found here.
In addition to Main Street Drug, the Charles City Hy-Vee Pharmacy also has Pfizer’s COVID vaccine for kids 5-11.
