“No Shave” Floyd County Sheriff’s Office Raising Cancer Funds

If members of the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office are starting to look a little “scruffy,” it’s with good reason.

The department is again participating in “No Shave November” in support of those battling cancer.  Lieutenant Deputy Travis Bartz says they started raising money for the Floyd County Cancer Fund almost a decade ago.

In the previous eight years, the department has raised over $44,000 to assist cancer families with travel, lodging and other costs, with all money staying in Floyd County.

Bartz says internal “no shave” bragging rights are also at stake.

Bartz says sheriff’s personnel will be soliciting money from the public, but donations can also be made at First Citizen’s Bank in Charles City.  More information can be found in this story on our station website.

To donate, please contact the Sheriff’s Office at 641-228-1821 or  contact Jan Osier and Jan Jung at First Citizen’s Bank at 641-228-5315.
