A Charles City man was arrested after he crashed his motorcycle Friday evening.
The Charles City Police Department and Floyd County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of Gilbert Street and South Main Street shortly after 5:30 p.m. 55-year-old Robert Nootnagel was riding a Harley-Davidson when he lost control of the motorcycle making a turn. No other vehicles were involved.
Nootnagel suffered a minor injury to his left knee and was evaluated at the scene by AMR Ambulance EMS staff. Nootnagel was arrested for OWI-first offense and was also cited for failure to maintain control and failure to prove liability insurance.
In a separate crash about 24 hours later, Charles City Police responded to a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of Holland Court and South Grand Avenue. A GMC van driven by 61-year-old Ricky Penny of Rockford, Illinois, crossed the center line and collided head-on with a Chevy Colorado driven by 22-year-old Lindford Martin of Charles City.
One unidentified person was transported to Floyd County Medical Center for a medical evaluation. Total property damage to the vehicles was estimated at $10,000.
Penny was cited for failure to yield half of the roadway when meeting a vehicle.
