Top Three in Charles City School Board Election Unchanged with Final Canvass

The second and final canvass of the November 2 election results shows no change in the top three candidates to win seats on the Charles City School Board.

The canvass by the Floyd County Board of Supervisors this week did result in one more vote to top vote-getter, David Schrodt, for a total of 1,071. Combined with 17 ballots from school district voters residing in Chickasaw County, Schrodt’s final tally is 1,088 votes.  Kathryn Fox finished second with 943 Floyd County ballots in her favor, plus five more from Chickasaw County. Current Board President Josh Mack, the only incumbent seeking re-election, did not pick up any votes in Chickasaw County, but his 853 Floyd County ballots were enough to take the third seat.

In the first canvass, Claire Jung picked up one extra vote to give her 831 total ballots in Floyd County. The final canvass showed no additional change, but with 13 votes she received from Chickasaw County, she finished fourth with 844 votes. Lori Otto finished fifth with 829 votes followed by Staci Taylor with 532.

Schrodt, Fox and Mack will be officially sworn in at the next school board meeting on Monday, November 29th.
