Charles City to Utilize Grant for Water Quality Best Practices Projects

The City of Charles City will utilize a $1 million Sponsored Project Design grant to spur water quality best practices projects within city limits.

City Administrator Steve Diers says money from the grant, received as part of the building of the new wastewater resource and reclamation facility (WRRF), will be freed up as the WRRF project comes to an end. That will allow Doug Johnson with the Soil and Water Conservation District to line up potential water quality projects in the rural edges of town.

Diers says the City can utilize some of the grant money for urban projects as well.

Diers says designs for all water quality best practices projects have to be submitted at the same time before they can proceed forward.  Contact the City for more information.
