Deadline to Register for “December Nights & Dazzling Lights” in Charles City Nov. 30

From the Charles City Chamber of Commerce:

If you love decorating your home and yard for the holidays, sign up to be a part of this year’s “December Nights & Dazzling Lights” Holiday Driving Tour.

Any residence in Charles City may participate in this free event, coordinated by the Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce. All displays – large and small – are encouraged to participate.

“We decided to bring back the event for 2021 after hearing so many positive comments last year,” said Marketing & Tourism Coordinator Ginger Williams. “We all love a good holiday display, and this is a great way to share those displays with everyone.”

A panel of judges will select winning entries in a variety of decorating categories including: Classic Christmas, Single Best Decoration, Most Creative, Best Themed Display, Most Dazzling Light Display, and new this year – an award will be given for the best decorated neighborhood.

“We all piled in the car and spent a few hours driving around and looking at the lights last year,” said Wendy Luft, who helped judge the friendly competition in 2020. “I was super impressed by how many people participated. Just about every street was represented. We saw neighbors who worked together on displays, displays set to music, and several displays with moving parts. It was fantastic!”

Sign up via the online registration form at https://form.jotform.com/212925914023148 by November 30 to be placed on a list of addresses that will be promoted as this year’s driving tour. Participants should have their location ready to view by Saturday, December 4.

A list of participating addresses will be available for download. Community members and visitors will be able to enjoy this self-guided driving tour and view the decorated locations at any time throughout the month of December.
