Jobless Rates Show Little Change from September to October in North Iowa

Unemployment rates across north Iowa counties showed little change from September to October, and all remained below the state rate.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, Floyd County’s jobless rate from September to October was unchanged at 2.8% while Chickasaw County saw a modest improvement from 2.5% in September to 2.4% in October.

Other counties with unchanged unemployment rates include Cerro Gordo at 2.9%, Bremer at 2.2%, Fayette at 3.0% and Franklin at 2.5%.

Seeing slight increases in jobless rates was Howard County at 2.4% in October, up from 2.2% in September; with Winneshiek at 2.4% and Mitchell at 2.0% both up 0.1%.  Butler County was down 0.1% at 2.5% unemployment last month.

The State’s jobless rate for October was 3.9%, down from 4.% in September.
