Two Arrested in North Iowa After Vehicle Backs Into Ditch

Two people were arrested on outstanding warrants after the vehicle they were riding in backed into a ditch and became stuck in southeast Fayette County.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says they responded to a report of a vehicle in a ditch on 70th Street, near C Avenue, at about 11 p.m. Friday night, November 19th. An investigation determined the driver, 33-year-old Randall Roland of Cynthiana, Kentucky, was attempting to make a U-turn, when he backed into the ditch and couldn’t get the vehicle out.

Authorities also learned that two of the passengers were wanted on outstanding Fayette County warrants. Arrested was 46-year-old Linda Ducharme, also of Cynthiana, Kentucky, for second-degree theft. She was also charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Also arrested was 40-year-old Joseph Barker of Oelwein.

In a separate incident, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says 26-year-old Markus Huntsman of Independence was arrested on November 17th on a warrant for a controlled substance violation and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Fayette County Jail where he was held on $10,000 cash/surety bond.
