Iowa’s 1st Shotgun Deer Hunting Season Opens Saturday

The first shotgun deer hunting season of the year begins Saturday and continues through December 8th.

Iowa DNR Conservation Officer for Chickasaw and Howard counties, Marc Waterlander, advises hunters to know your surroundings before the hunt begins.

Waterlander adds that if you’re hunting in a group, be sure to communicate with each as to everyone’s hunting position. If you’re hunting alone, communicate that to others before you head out.

Waterlander also reminds hunters that you must wear at least one article of blaze-orange-colored apparel at all times to make yourself visible to other hunters.
