Mason City Man Arrested After High-Speed Chase

A Mason City man has been arrested after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase Thursday night.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy initially attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by 30-year-old Landon Martin near the intersection of 4th Street Northeast and North Carolina Avenue in Mason shortly before 11 p.m. Martin sped off, leading deputies, plus the Iowa State Patrol and Mason City Police on a chase through the southeast and northeast sides of town.

After about 12 minutes of pursuit, stop sticks were deployed by the MCPD, deflating three of the four tires on Martin’s GMC Acadia. Deputies then blocked in Martin’s vehicle in the 900 block of 16th Street Northeast and he was taken into custody without further incident.

Martin, already wanted on warrants for parole violation and failure to appear for trespassing, now faces additional charges of eluding and speeding. It was also discovered that the vehicle Martin was driving  had been reported stolen from a residence in Mason City, resulting in a charge of operation without owner’s consent.

Martin was being held in the Cerro Gordo County Jail.
