The on again, off again sale of the former Simply Essentials plant in Charles City could finally become final this month.
City Administrator Steve Diers says he, Mayor Dean Andrews and City Engineer John Fallis recently met with representatives of the purchasing group, Pure Prairie Farms.
The plant at one time employed over 400 people. Mayor Andrews says it’s unknown if the new owners will again reach a workforce of that level.
Andrews says Pure Prairie Farms met with city officials in their effort to be good corporate partners with the Charles City community.
Pure Prairie Farms is purchasing the chicken processing plant for $9.5 million.
