Reception Today for Retiring Charles City Councilman Joerger

The City of Charles City will host a reception this afternoon for retiring Councilman Jerry Joerger.

The public is invited to honor Joerger from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall. Following the reception, Mayor Dean Andrews will be sworn in for his second term. Also being sworn in will be councilmen DeLaine Freeseman, who ran unopposed in his re-election bid; and newcomer, Patrick Lumley, who ran unopposed to take Joerger’s seat.

Joerger will continue serving on the council until his term ends on December 31st. Lumley will take over Joerger’s post January 1st.

Joerger has served two different stints on the City Council, covering over 30 years; from 1976 to 1980, and 1994 to present.
