Driver Involved in Double Fatality September Collision Arrested

The driver of a vehicle that collided head-on with another vehicle in which both occupants died Labor Day weekend has been arrested on two charges of homicide by vehicle-operating under the influence.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office executed an arrest warrant shortly after 7 p.m. Thursday night in the 900 block of Charles City, taking 28-year-old Casey Lindahl of Charles City into custody on the two Class B felony charges. According to the criminal complaint, Lindahl had a blood alcohol level of .146%, almost double the legal limit of .08%. Lindahl also faces an aggravated misdemeanor charge of child endangerment because her three-year-old son was in the backseat of the vehicle at the time of the wreck. 

The Iowa State Patrol says the crash occurred near the intersection of Underwood Avenue and 140th Street near Colwell shortly after 2 p.m. on September 4th Authorities say Lindahl’s southbound vehicle crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the northbound car driven by 77-year-old Chris Andersen of Mason City.  Andersen and a passenger, 76-year-old Anita Andersen, also of Mason City, died from the injuries suffered in the wreck.
