DOT Ready to Treat North Iowa’s Winter Roads

Maintenance crews have been busy in their efforts to keep roads clear and safe following a mix of snow and freezing rain across north Iowa in recent days.

Field Services Coordinator for the Mason City District Office of the Iowa DOT, Pete Hjelmstad, says his department has plenty of salt and sand available to treat the roads accordingly.

Hjelmstad says they also have a sufficient supply of chemicals for pre-treating roads judicially in anticipation of inclement driving conditions.

Hjelmstad adds that all DOT trucks and snow plows are equipped with  the blades they need.
