Could Inmates Move Into New Floyd County LEC Next Month?

The new Floyd County Law Enforcement Center may soon be ready to house its main tenants.

During their regular meeting Tuesday, Board of Supervisors Chair Linda Tjaden said it’s possible the LEC could start housing inmates next month.

A state jail inspector reviewed the readiness of the LEC last week and Tjaden said most items to be buttoned up revolved around staff training, including evacuating the building in the event of a fire. Tjaden said most issues could likely be addressed through communications with the jail inspector and a return visit would not be required.

Still, no specific date has been established to move the inmates from their current residence on the fourth floor of the Floyd County Courthouse into the new LEC.
