First Meetings Tonight for New Members of Charles City, New Hampton City Councils

Tonight’s City Council meetings in Charles City and New Hampton will be the first official sessions for new members on both councils.
Newcomer Patrick Lumley begins a four-year term with the City of Charles City after he ran unopposed for the seat previously occupied by Jerry Joerger, who retired after almost 30 years on the council. Councilman DeLaine Freesemen also begins another term after running unopposed and Mayor Dean Andrews will conduct the first council meeting of his second four-year term in office.
Two new members of the New Hampton City Council will also participate in their first meeting tonight as they begin terms after being elected through write-in votes. Kalista Porath-Daly now represents Ward 2, taking over the seat previously held by Scott Perkins, while Mindy Casterton-Humpal now occupies the Ward 4 post, held previously by Bruce Diiro. Neith Perkins nor Diiro sought re-election. Katie Fisher also begins another term on the council after running unopposed in November for her at-large seat.
The Charles City council meeting starts at 6 p.m. and New Hampton’s starts at 7 p.m., both in their respective City Halls
