Warming up your car in winter is common practice for most north Iowans. That may also present an opportunity for car thieves.
Charles City Police Chief Hugh Anderson says don’t leave your vehicle running unattended unless it’s properly secured.
Anderson adds that if you leave your vehicle unlocked and running, it could disappear in a hurry.
Even when your vehicle is locked, Anderson also advises not leaving valuables in plain sight in your vehicle to avoid giving thieves the temptation of a smash-and-grab theft of your vehicle’s contents.
