Cresco Man Arrested on Theft Charge in Clarksville

A Cresco man has been arrested for theft and public intoxication in Butler County.

The Clarksville Police Department says they were called to the Casey’s in Clarksville Tuesday night, January 10th, to investigate a possible theft from the store by an intoxicated individual. When officers arrived at the scene, they encountered 57-year-old T.Y. Burlingame, who was stumbling on the sidewalk near the business.

After a brief investigation, authorities determined Burlingame was in possession of alcoholic beverages he stole from the store’s walk-in cooler. He was arrested for third-degree theft, an aggravated misdemeanor due his prior numerous convictions for thefts. Court records show Burlingame had been convicted of theft five times between 1992 and 2020.

Burlingame was also charged with public intoxication after his blood alcohol level measured .216%, more than two-and-a-half times the legal limit of .08%.
