Mitchell County Sheriff Warns of Scam, Dangerous Ice Conditions

The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office is issuing scam and snow alerts to the public.

In a Facebook post, the department is alerting snowmobilers that due to the Otranto Dam removal, dangerous ice conditions exist north of the dam (on the Cedar River). For your  safety, please stay off the river.”

The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office says they have also been receiving reports of an Amazon phone scam going around. In a separate Facebook post, the department listed the “phone numbers associated with those scams so far include 641-695-5372 and 641-645-9184.”
