New Hampton Family Spurns Christmas Presents, Wins $100,000 in Lottery

A decision to skip Christmas presents for a chance at $100,000 paid off for a New Hampton family.
Instead of buying Christmas gifts for each other, Steve Flick told the Iowa Lottery they pooled their money to buy lottery tickets, but not just any tickets.
Flick says they purchased three, 30-ticket rolls of the “7 Jewels” tickets and they were on the final set of tickets when their big win was revealed.
Flick says he passed around the ticket to his fellow family members, who agreed, they had won $100,000, a belated gift for all after they moved their Christmas gathering to January.
The eight members of the family are Kayla Flick, Steve Flick, Tammy Flick and Marisa Flick, all of New Hampton; Macy Flick, Mary Flick and Robert Flick, all of Ionia; and Tanner Rentschler, of Fredericksburg. Kayla and Steve Flick claimed the prize on Tuesday (01.25) at the lottery’s Mason City regional office.
By the way, the Flick’s purchased their winning scratch ticket at Casey’s on North Linn Avenue in New Hampton, the same store that sold a $2 million-winning Powerball® ticket earlier in the month won by Karla and Keith Elenz of New Hampton.
