Floyd County to Hire New County Engineer

After searching for four months, Floyd County is ready to hire a new County Engineer.

At their regular meeting Monday, the Board of Supervisors voted to offer the position to Jacob Page of Charles City at a salary of $90,000 per year. That annual salary can step up to $100,000 a year after he passes the civil engineering transportation exam. Page, who has been working for the Iowa DOT, would begin his job March 1st.

The County has been looking for a replacement for Dusty Rolando, who resigned October 1st, following his second OWI arrest. The original application period that ended December 6th yielded only one candidate, but that candidate did not have the preferred experience. The Board then voted to extend the application deadline to March 1st, with the caveat the search could end sooner if the right candidate was found before then.

Rolando, who was the shared County Engineer with Chickasaw County for 20 years, has been working on a temporary contract to help the Floyd County secondary roads department through the fiscal year budgeting process.

In late September, the Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors voted to promote Roman Lensing from assistant engineer to replace Rolando as County Engineer for Chickasaw County alone..
